Digestif
A strong, often bitter or sweet drink taken after a meal to aid digestion.
The digestif category runs from amari (Fernet-Branca, Averna) through brandy, port, and grappa. The traditional claim that they aid digestion is thinly supported; the more honest reason to drink them is that they end a meal deliberately, marking the transition from dinner to whatever follows.
