The imprecise but conventional unit of measure for bitters — roughly 0.6 ml.

A dash is a firm shake from an Angostura-style dasher-top bottle. Recipes calling for '2 dashes' assume the bottle is roughly full and shaken sharply once each time. For unusually potent house bitters, halve the count.
